I guess it was always going to be on the cards eh? Our last bank holiday of the 2011 and the forecast looks grim. Of course in Carp fishing terms cloud, mixed with rain showers and the odd thunder storm is actually much better than blistering heat. It doesnt do much for my sitting out in the sun chair though which shall have to be a sitting in the bivvy chair for much of this extended weekend.
The plan this week is to use again use our new trusted friend the 'Method blaster', and the ‘ball out’a good amount of groundbait in the form of Vitalin mixed with particles, sweetcorn and some trout pellet. This sloppy mixture is drying out after being scalded with boiling hot water and mixed about, then left to dry.
Once ive dropped Pubchucker Junior back home tonight it will be time to get mucky by attempting to mould the groundbait by hand into medium sized balls. Last week i found i had over-soaked the mix so this week ive held back somewhat and hope the mix will be firmer and easy to bind. I guess if i had a food blender the job could be easier but i dont.
The plan of attack this weekend will be to focus on the heavy baiting over two Snowman Rigs, but with a third rod placed at range using a single Chod presentation. Nothing will change in terms of hooklength and i felt confident last weekend using longer ones. In terms of swim choice im just going to play that by ear and see whats available. If the weather improves there could be quite a few lads on the lake, but on the other hand 'quite a few' on my water normally means a handful?!
Will keep you updated as time moves on. One things for certain like millions of other Brits i am definitely looking forward to that longer weekend!
