Scorchio and a Change of Plan - Written by Geoff Rauf

Well it was supposed to be a comfortable afternoon with a few hours fishing the new pond but its not turned out quite as planned. In fact it’s thrown a spanner in the works because it made me realize I’m not happy fishing this at all. Its just too small and just doesn’t feel right.

Arriving to 30 degree blistering sunshine it was soon evident every swim (there are only 6) offered absolutely zero cover from the elements. Within just three hours we were packing up and heading for the car. My head now looks like a beaken and the plans i had firmly in place have now crumbled, been fired out into the lake, sunk to the bottom, and consumed by a large Rudd!

I have some serious thinking to do over the coming week. I’m thinking it may be wise to drop the plans for the next few months and maybe revisit the smaller pond in the autumn. So folks I’m going back for yet another crack on the large head banging lake which has driven many a sane angler completely nuts. I’m off now as need some after-sun on my head but will leave you with a vision rarely seen – a pretty little lake and baking hot rods. Angela of course had to make the most of the sunshine so at least somebody enjoyed themselves.
